Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Sustains Concussion in Loss to Bills

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa sustained a concussion during the team’s 31-10 defeat to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, the Dolphins confirmed. This latest head injury is a significant concern for Tagovailoa, who has previously voiced worries about his history with concussions.

Tagovailoa was injured in the third quarter while scrambling for a first down, taking a hit to the head from Bills safety Damar Hamlin. The 26-year-old remained on the field at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens as Dolphins trainers attended to him.

Though Tagovailoa was able to walk off the field with assistance, he was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game and replaced by backup quarterback Skylar Thompson. The Dolphins confirmed his concussion diagnosis via social media.

Tagovailoa’s concussion history is notable, with multiple incidents occurring during the 2022 season. In April 2023, he revealed he had considered retiring from football due to ongoing concussion issues.

Before his departure, Tagovailoa struggled, throwing three interceptions.
